We left the windows open last night, and when I woke up this morning to cats begging for breakfast, it was cold. It really is fall now, and it has me craving a hot breakfast.
The solution is perfectly portioned oatmeal packets.
I never thought I liked oatmeal, because the Quaker packets are overly sweet and mushy. I ate Kashi packets for a while, but they still weren’t anything I was excited about eating. Now that we make our own, I’m in love.
Mister BS will assemble enough packets for us for the week, and we have grab and go breakfast each morning that is way healthier than a donut, but still satisfying.
Best of all, it’s cheap—way less than store bought instant oatmeal. All the items are available in the bulk section.
We’ve tried lots of varieties: cranberry and apple, apricot ginger, and chocolate peanut butter. But both of us agree that a simple cinnamon raisin with a splash of almonds is our favorite.
All you do is add boiling water and stir. It’s so quick and easy, I can even manage to make it on mornings when I’m running late.
