Midcentury Modern + Industrial Living Room Wishlist

I’m preparing to move across the country with only the contents that will fit in my Subaru, which means I’m going to need a lot of new furniture. Even though Mister BS will be moving a few months after I do with all our stuff, a lot of what we’ve had since college isn’t worth the space in a U-Haul on a cross-country trip, so we’ll be getting rid of it and only moving our “nice” furniture, which includes our bed, our couch, an ottoman, and a small table. We’ll need a lot of new stuff!

I’ve been getting lots of inspiration and refining my personal interior design aesthetics and scoping out the best deals, and have settled on an eclectic mix of midcentury modern with a few industrial accents. Here are some pieces I’ve been eyeing!

1 – Land of Nod Periscope Floor Lamp

I love the cooper color and the trio of sconces on this floor lamp. And at $200, it’s a steal.

2 – All Modern Vortex Arm Chair

This Eames-style chair is all the rage, but All Modern has it is so many colors — and the price on some is as low as $70!

3 – Land of Nod Orbital Floor Lamp

The orbs on this are perfect. Love this.

4 – Astro End Table

I love the open design on this end table. The interior would look great styled with a pile of books.

5 – Crate and Barrel Penelope Accent Table

I plan on having a ton of plants in my new apartment, and I think this little table would be perfect with some foliage draping over the sides.

6 – Cooper Freeform Side Table

I love the natural wood top and metal legs of this table—and I actually might try this DIY version with my little brother’s help (and tools).

7 – Land of Nod Library Book Cart

I have a vintage wooden library book cart at my desk at my current job that I wish I could steal when I leave! But this one is a decent substitute. I always have a rotating stock of advanced reader copies cycling through my house, and keeping them corralled on this will make organizing them a breeze!

  • This is totally my style, too, and I wish I had the money to do it all (properly) at once, but it’s definitely been a gradual process. Now that we’re in our second house we’ve been able to add more pieces from vintage shops in the area and things are coming along. I’ve also been loving the online store Dot and Bo lately!

    • Yeah it’s definitely going to be a gradual process for me, too, but I have an excuse to buy a few new pieces right away on account of having NO furniture for a few months. I am excited about find some amazing vintage pieces too. My sister in law loves thrift stores so we are planning a few weekend trips. I think you can find some great cast offs of rich people in Southern California, too, from what she says – you just need a little luck and good timing to find them before someone else picks them up! I have loved a few pieces from Dot and Bo too! I have a steal vs. splurge post coming up next week from them.

  • I love that spherical ring shaped lamp. So cool. And all-purpose rolling carts/tables/shelves are the best. My go-to interior style is very much cottage-y, cozy, antique-y, books all over. I’m essentially a hobbit. 😛 XO – Alexandra
